QuantitativeAnalysis

Unlike point-of-care testing (POCT), which provides quick qualitative results, LC/MS/MS (liquid chromatography/dual mass spectrometry) is the industry’s most advanced quantitative assessment tool. With high-sensitivity and specificity LC/MS/MS enables you to assess your patients’ medication usage and adjust their regimen accordingly.

Importance of Trending

Assume you see a new patient who you feel is appropriate for opioid therapy, however, also tests positive for THC. You recommend that the patient discontinue THC use in order to consider initiating an opioid medication regimen.

With qualitative testing, this patient may test positive for THC, even after THC cessation. Quantitative testing will provide additional insight regarding the patients THC use by quantifying the level of THC present in the urine. Although quantitative testing is positive, the numeric trends may demonstrate that cessation has occurred.
